Daniela Salazar Marín is an expert in international human rights law, constitutional law, and the role of judges; the criminalisation of social protest; freedom of expression on the internet; the rights of migrants and refugees; and the rights of indigenous peoples. She graduated summa cum laude from the University San Francisco de Quito (USFQ), College of Jurisprudence, Ecuador, and earned an LL.M. from Columbia Law School as a Fulbright scholar. She was Vice Dean of the USFQ College of Jurisprudence and Co-Director of the Legal Clinic and has taught at the Andean University Simón Bolívar (UASB) in Quito and at the University of San Martín (USAM) in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She served as a judge on the Constitutional Court of Ecuador and is currently an Associate Professor at USFQ.

She worked as a human rights expert at the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) and was a researcher for the Center for Studies on Freedom of Expression and Access to Information (CELE) and Human Rights Watch (HRW), among other institutions. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Pichincha Bar Association and of its Human Rights Observatory, along with various other legal associations.
