Anastasiia Vorozhtsova

Anastasiia joined Columbia Global Freedom of Expression as a legal researcher in the spring of 2022: she analyzed Russian court cases concerning content moderation, disinformation, right-to-be-forgotten, and hate speech. Her current role includes compiling and editing CGFoE’s weekly newsletter, as well as creating and editing website publication content.

Previously, Anastasiia worked with PEN America’s Freedom of Expression Program, focusing on free speech advocacy in Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine. She later freelanced for the Daily podcast of The New York Times, assisting with episodes on Russia, Ukraine, and the war. As a research fellow at the Media and Journalism Research Center, Anastasiia authored a report on Media Capture in Russia. She continues to write and report as a freelancer.

Anastasiia has an MA degree in International Relations from Central European University and is currently pursuing her MFA degree in nonfiction writing at Columbia University School of the Arts.
